If you haven't yet heard the magic that is Structures, you should give this a listen asap. Seriously! Drop everything and listen! It'll make you a better person! Okay, I give up. If you don't want to listen, I can't make you, but you just don't know what you're missing.

Oh, and let me know what you think as soon as you're done, okay? Thanks! :-D

Transcript

Malex: Welcome to the Malex Minute, everybody! My name is Alex Markley, or Malex for short, and I'm hosting the show. We won't be doing the usual today. I know our characters are in a sticky situation, and some of you even care what happens to them! But fear not, as we will return to their story next week.

Malex: This week, oh, this week is a very special week. In fact, this will be the most amazing week of my whole year! Of course, the Nintendo Wii and the PS3 both come out, but that's not what I'm talking about. No, I'm talking about Structures - my latest album! That's right, after a year-and-a-half of blood, sweat, and tears, Structures is finally shipping on Monday!

Malex: So, since many of you still have not heard any of the music from Structures, I'll be giving you a quick tour... Right now!

Info: Sample "Synaptic"

Info: Sample "Structures"

Info: Sample "dnb4themassive"

Malex: As a collection of tracks, Structures is probably the best music I've ever composed. And, as a CD it's the highest quality product the Malex Media Network (TM) has released to date. It contains 20 tracks, and it runs about 79 minutes. I've completely filled the CD, and I really feel confident that there's something on it for everyone.

Info: Sample "Turnabout"

Info: Sample "Dark Consequence"

Malex: And not all of the music is meant to sound electronic, either. Several of the songs on Structures are there to make you feel a moment as if you were really there. For example: In this song, three original melodies combine with classic instruments to put you in the center of a coronation ceremony from an age long past.

Info: Track "Return to the Throne (Interlude)"

Info: Sample "May the Best Man Win"

Malex: As I hope you've heard, Structures has something for everybody. It's important to me that as many people get a chance to hear it as possible, so if you like what you've heard, please share this file with as many people as you can!

Malex: Structures is available for purchase at our online store now at MalexMedia.Net/store. For direct links to other places to buy Structures, please visit MalexMedia.Net/findproduct/mmncd004.

Malex: Remember, Structures begins shipping on Monday, November 20th, so place your order now to get your copy before everybody else! Even better, if you place your order before December, 2006, you'll get $2 off the regular $12 price, which means that you get your copy of Structures for only $10!

Malex: I'm sure you can tell that I really, really want to sell you a copy of this amazing CD, so I'll quit talking so you can hear the rest of this song.

Malex: Thanks for listening to the Malex Minute everybody, and I hope you'll join us again next week. Everything will be back to normal again, I promise.

Nobody: Quarter 2 Episode Cap (Song playing during copyright notice does not come with Structures.)

Update - Structures is now available to purchase for real. The info in this comment is old.

You'll note that I don't have Structures "up" yet. (The links in the episode don't really have any Structures info yet.)

It's late, and I'll be posting it first thing in the morning. (I'll also have a mouthful about why the Structures release didn't go as planned...

Hope you enjoy the music! :)

0_0 Malex call me I have money for you. Just need to work out a meeting spot. I will be in columbus for the next few days tonight after 7pm would probably be best, but we can work out something else too.

Magic is more than something that you see. Magic is something you feel. It's like the feeling you get when you hear that certain song or see that one person...that's real magic.

At Walmart, perhaps?

Wow. ... Just wow.

Aisling's picture

For the first time I actually sat down and listened to this music with headphones and with nothing else going on at the same time.

And I love it!

I love the way the percussion, in dnb4themassive, seemed to dance playfully around my ears.

And in Turnabout, the whisper, the way it was so quiet but so clear; it was haunting.

Dark Consequence made me feel like I was in a huge and darkened cathedral.

And Return to the Throne truly sounds like it belongs on one of my Celtic folk music CDs. And I'm a stickler about what actually counts as Celtic music.

Way to go Malex!

If this CD doesn't sell I'll eat my hat. ;-)

*basks* :-P

Seriously though, I'm really, really glad that you like Dark Consequence, GFG.

See, the original Consequence was secretly always my favorite song from Surreality, but nobody ever really mentioned it. You know, friends would say, "I listened to the CD, and I like track N." Only, they never said they liked track 3. :(

That is, until you came on board, and said that out of all of my music, Consequence was your favorite! Even though I had always toyed with the idea of remixing Consequence, I never had the incentive to actually do it until then.

So, the moral of the story is that your feedback really matters! :-D

*faint*

THAT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

This is a shocker, but that's the first Malex music I've EVER heard!!!!!!!! (except for Firefly and EMIT patrol)

I don't really like trance music ... heck, I barely like music sometimes, but that was so good. I normally don't like music without lyrics, except Celtic. But, like Aisling, I think Dark Consequence and Return to the Throne really sounded Celtic, and I LOVE IT!!!!!

I think my favorite was "dnb4themassive" (I think that's the one). The lyrics were so beautiful

"There was a different story

A tale of hearts unfolding

But they have brought it to an end

Who will tell this story? Who will sing this song?

Who will ring the bells? Does anyone know right from wrong?"

WOW :-O :-* :-D *faint* It's so deep and hauntingly beautiful ... *faint again*

Dark Consequence? Celtic? Not to put a damper on your undoubtedly thrilling enthusiasm about Malex's new art, but I think this one rendered with something of an antialiasing error, if you will.

Thank you so much for your compliments, Mariel 7. It's really very encouraging to know that somebody who generally doesn't listen to electronic music likes some of mine. It really validates my work. ;)

Quartz, please. It doesn't matter how wrong you think somebody is, you just don't correct them this way.

What are you talking about? I said I thought that perhaps something had gotten confused, and it was supposed to be a joke. Am I perhaps putting more of a damper on her enthusiasm for your art than I was aware?

Well, I'm certainly sorry. I was hoping it wouldn't have any such side-effect, and I'll try to be more cautious in situations to come.

I still don't know the songs by name, except the nicknames I've been giving them. I must purchase a copy so that I can learn the names and tell you all which ones are my favorites.

"Was there any one song you liked in particular?" (not exact wording) - Malex

Well, I heard the sample that you posted as the Malex Minute for last week, so all of the songs were intertwined, for the most part. However, I thought that all of it was extremely professional and very well polished. I honestly think it is very high quality. In my opinion, Structures is just as good as Echoing Green, Antidote, etc. Really. It is awesome. I can say that I really did like the song that was meant to be from a medieval coronation ceremony. That was pretty cool, a themed song. And it really does sound exactly like a song to accompany a procession of courtiers and a prince to be crowned. That's really neat! I also like the way you used a lot of Faith's voice. She has so much talent, I am really excited to see her using it even more. Her voice is so beautiful....

Thanks a lot! Your opinion is always very valuable to me, so it's really encouraging to know that you like what you've heard. :)
