I love the missions and the Splickies themselves. My favorite is the dark green one blithely carrying off his friend's orb. He's so clueless!

I love this background, Quartz. Actually, they're all really cool. But this one looks particularly inviting.

Actually, no, neither of these I count as fundamental differences. We've had patterned splickies before, even if they had different patterns, and the date on Earth2 is progressing as usual, even if it's reached a point it's never reached before.

Crazy J hit upon it (even if he didn't get it--it wasn't very obvious, I suppose): it's the albino splicky near the bottom right!

The reason we all passed over that one was because there's been a white one before, so we didn't exactly think it a shocking event that a second one comes up on us.

It's the olive green splic. He has no orb element. These splickies are called "ordinaire splics", or, in politically correct terms, "un-especial splics". Because a splic's parents pretty much have their pick on what kind of splic he/she's going to be, and the three elements are actually better than the ordinaires, these types of splics are notably rare.

Is this the one holding the yellowish one's orb by mistake, or the lighter one that is falling down the hill? Sorry. I have trouble discerning the orb elements. You'll have to give me a tutorial.

I did say pretty much have their choice. There might be cases where an elemental orb was not readily available, or something. Besides, the Splickan society is quite unusual... I think you'd be surprised.

Well, that's a rather large subject. Principally, though, water splickies have gills in their throats (they're amphibious), light splickies are fire-proof, and beam splickies have weak tractor beams they can use from their orbs that works best on other orbs. As I explain in more detail here, splickies will not appear in merely Splicky Missions.
