To ease the boredom of being home alone all day, Dragon decided to spend a day in the local movie theater. I viewed three movies almost back to back, and even as i watched them, a movie review was writing itself for each one. So, for my own amusement, i shall share my opinions with all yalls.
Movie 1: Hancock
This modern superhero flick starring Will Smith (who is in my opinion the best actor alive) was promising from the first teaser trailer. As with most Will Smith movies, the whole movie will be ruined with anything beyond a basic plot summary, so i'll leave it at this: The main character of the film is John Hancock, a seldom-sober filthy-mouthed amnesiac vigilante who tends to cause considerable collateral damage every time he 'helps' someone in need. The city officials dislike him for this, and the entire city begins to hate the hero. Hancock describes himself as someone who doesn't care what people think about him, so he just brushes the 'haters' of and goes along on his own way, usually with a bottle of whiskey in hand. His luck changes when he saves the life of an image consultant (whose name escapes me>_<) who decides to help improve the public's opinion of him... by sending him to prison! The theory being, when Hancock is no longer there to provide help when needed, the people will like him more. he even makes Hancock a superhero costume, and despite his dislike of it ("I would fight crime Butt Naked before I'd fight it in that") he wears it anyway.
Overall impression: A very nicely done movie with stunning action scenes and brilliant acting by Will Smith. However, near constant alcohol reference and even more constant use of the "A" word makes Hancock not a very good movie for the children. And, as can be expected from a superhero movie, action-violence is all over this film.
Movie 2: WALL-E
the Disney/Pixar film detailing the adventures of the Waste Allocation Load Lifter- Earth class (or WALL-E for short),is a very humorous film about a small robot left behind on earth after a planet-wide evacuation to clean up after us filthy humans. He (I'm assuming it's a dude-bot) busies himself by compacting the garbage into cubes and amusing himself with interesting objects he uncovers in his clean-up (bubble wrap, paddle balls, fire extinguishers, etc.). All this changes when a probe droid named EVE ( the real name of this one evades me) arrives and WALL-E falls for her(I'm assuming it's a chick-bot
). WALL-E befriends EVE, but almost immediately afterwards she is picked up by a space ship and whisked away. WALL-E follows, and what ensues afterward is a humorous journey through the stars to bring back WALL-E's "girlfriend".
Overall impression: As with most of the Disney/Pixar movies, this film is very child-friendly. The movie is filled with humorous scenes which had me literally rolling in the aisle laughing.
Movie 3: The Incredible Hulk.
Most everyone has at least heard of this Marvel Comic superhero. The madder he gets, the stronger he gets. they tried to make a Hulk movie a few years ago, but they failed. Miserably. This movie was far superior to the first attempt, with better action scenes and an easier-to-follow storyline. I don't want to give away too much, but most hard-core Marvel fans may know where i'm going when i say that the main villain is Emil Blonsky. With hints at a sequel by subtle showings of another Hulk villain, i thoroughly enjoyed this film.
Overall Impression: this movie was far superior to the first attempt at a Hulk movie. There was a cameo appearance near the end by Tony Stark (Iron Man) which hinted at an Avengers movie. Hulk isn't exactly a children's movie, due to being full to the gills with anger management(the counter-productive kind). Mild profanity and an "almost sex scene" lowered my opinion of the movie, but i was glad to see that neither profanity or sex was prevalent in the film.
... so yea. there's my reviews. ENJOY THEM!!!!!!!!!!! >.<
