Game Night?

The Royal Shortness's picture

Me and Mariel were wondering this yesterday but I couldn't post it because of computer problems. But anyway, we were just wondering what we we are going to do for game night, since the library has chosen to have karaoke. X-| ...

This is mostly for SangMing ... ^_^

I wondered, because I heard you contemplating about going back to Smoothie Brews for game night, but I wasn't sure if that worked. Also, since karaoke is right out (inside joke ^.^) , I thought we might be back at the MMN Office ... but it was VERY cramped and I'm not sure if we're allowed back *sweat ... awkward grin* ANYWAY - please illucidate us O Great Sang of Ming X-D :-* ;-)

She was indeed speaking of Smoothie Brews once again. I prefer this idea as well as it is not loud and crowded. Though she'll have to speak for herself concerning dates.

SangMing's picture

Smoothie Brews, indeed

I like the Smoothie Brews idea. It has several good points:

1) It's quiet and we adults can stand to be there. ;-)

2) There are clean tables.

3) Refreshments are available, if pricey.

4) The management there said it would be fine. They even seemed to welcome the thought.

5) The management was very good to Malex with the party, and this would be good advertising for them and (hopefully) drum them up a little business too.

Drawbacks might include the fact that it would be rude for us to bring our own (cheaper) refreshments from home.

The Patsy library isn't even having game night anymore. Not even a karaoke thing! But it used to be the 2nd Tues evening, 7-10pm. But Smoothie Brews is only open till 8 on Sat. Should we go earlier? Say 6ish? And should we meet to eat somewhere beforehand?

The 2nd Tuesday of April is the 12th. What do you all think?

Another time?

This sounds like a fun idea. Get the Medianites out for lazer tag or DDR or paintball. But I don't think it would work as a substitute for game night.

Yay Smoothie Brews!

I love Smoothie Brews! They are my new fave hang out place at home. They were so awesome and accommodating for the MMN Party, and it was such an adorable little coffee shop. A couple weeks later, I wanted to hang out with some people from New Song youth group, so I rounded up a posse and we headed over to Smoothie's. They were so great! They'll make like any combination of flavors in your coffee/smoothie. Also, they have this awesome game corner where you can play board games and such, totally for free. Plus, they have a big TV, and they let us put it to the channel we wanted, and even let us turn up the volume! On top of all that, they had recently finished decorated egg-shaped cookies for easter (I think they were going to sell them). They had a bunch of leftover cookies and frosting, so they randomly came up to us and asked if we wanted to decorate cookies! It was so much fun! We got to decorate as many cookies as we liked, and then we got to eat them....totally for free! They are sooooooo cool. X-D :-* :-* <3 :-* :-)

HAHAHA *gloats*

Told ya ... the 2ND SATURDAY!!! HA! You've been proven wrong ;-) (sorry for that ... I love you shortness :-) )

Then again, now that we're making our own Game night ... when are we going to have it? I like the idea of meeting for dinner then going to Smoothies. Maybe if dinner was "included" in the game night, then we might only go for an hour afterward. I dunno, any other suggestions?

Depending on the route you take from your house, it might actually be closer. Smoothie Brews is on 310, just 3 minutes away from Malex's ofice. If you come east on I-70, you get off on 310 (the Pataskala exit), turn left and drive just about 5 minutes to Smoothie Brews.

I'd like to set Saturday, April 12 as our first Smoothie Brews game night. Let's go at 6:30 or so. Now who would be interested in meeting at 5:30 or so for dinner somewhere?

Options

Within a five minute drive, we have a Dairy Queen, McD's, Wendy's, KFC, Long John Siver, Taco Bell, Donato's Pizza, Subway, and Capuano's Pizza. The Taco Bell sells some Pizza Hut stuff, and the KFC/Long John Silver are together.

Pick your poison, folks!

Or - if the weather is good, why not a picnic at the nearby park? It's LOTS cheaper!

Leela's picture

Wow!!!

Picnics are amazing....that is if the weather is nice! ;-)

Someone should definitely bring a couple frisbees! Those are so fun in parks! XD

But a few things need hardened in stone. First off, Where? We need to pick a nice park that's relatively close to everyone! I'm sure Mamma Sangming can decide where.

And, Who's bringing what. Shortness said she could bring games. I have a few frisbees, but they're so thin that they hurt to catch!(They're for frisbee golf!) We could probably bring a main course, and maybe a few drinks. But I'm not sure!!! I don't want to volunteer for something we can't do. I'll have to ask the Sangming!

But if we are able to bring a main course and some drinks, everyone could bring their favorite snack food, and there's a nice picnic for you! ;-)

The games, the park, and other things

Directions to the park:

I-70 to 310 (Pataskala exit). Go north on 310 (left off the freeway). Pass Main St (National Road/St. Rte. 16), pass Smoothie Brews, go to Mill Rd. where the road turns dramatically to the left. There's a big yellow sign there wih a big black arrow. Turn right onto Mill Rd, and it leads right into the park!

I can bring lunchmeat, bread, lettuce and condiments. If everyone brings their favorite game, and Mariel brings chips, all we need is a volunteer to bring drinks and someone to bring frisbees. I can bring paper goods and forks and stuff. Anyone want to bake a cake or cookies? We can meet at the park at...say...5 or so? If people want to come early, they can, and if they come later, it's no problem. Then we can all mosey over to Smoothie Brews around 6ish.

Coordination is the Key

What chips should I bring? I was thinking two family size bags (I assume at least 10 or so people are coming :-J ): one of regular Wavy Lays and one of regular Sunchips. Any objections, special requests, allergies, or other things I should be aware of :-D

(PS- to whomsoever brings brings soda: RootBeer yes, Mountain Dew no. ;-) )

My Suspitions

I suspect that whatever games you bring, Royal Shortness, and whatever chips you bring, Mariel 7, will be just dandy. :) And that most likely goes for whatever pop people bring as well...

Somebody needs to bring Scrabble though. My family can probably cover that.

Final Decision

Okay. The results are in. Since it's going to only be about 50 degrees Saturday and rainy, we're NOT going to meet at the park. Let's all meet at KFC on Broad St. in Pataskala, instead. From I-70, go north on 310. Pass Smoothie Brews, drive through Pataskala and come to the traffic light at Broad Street. Turn right and go through the next intersection. KFC is the second building, I think, on the right. Let's say 5:00. Anyone who can't make it then, or prefers to eat somewhere else can join us at Smoothie Brews later - around 6:00 - for games.

So...forget the chips, frisbees and pop. We'll eat at KFC. I hope it's not too pricey, but we'll do the picnic thing next time, God willing.

Everyone planning to bring games should bring them still. We'll need them to play at Smoothie Brews.

The management sincerely regrets any inconvenience this may have caused. :-)
