I have gotten permission from mAlex to announce this: we are using POV-ray to *dramatic pause* animate *dramatic pause* the MMN logo. *cheers*

This is going to be so unbelievably amazing if this works. I started this project without mAlex knowing until he got home, when I had already gotten the gears in the middle M turning and the star in the N spubbling and spinning. Then I made a giant 3D maze model and put it under the MMN so the camera can do some cool stuff with the maze view before pulling up, zooming out of the far left M.

If this works.... oh, I'm shaking. (Not really, that's just how I feel inside.) If this works, *dramatic tones* you guys are in for an eye-popping treat that we'll be able to show on the demo stand at the concert.

There are no emoticons for this.... this is just spectacular.

Just a quick note...

Just a quick note to verify this. Things are kicking into warp speed for the concert/rave, and Peter's extra little project hasn't helped my stress level one iota.

I've spent many, many hours animating this monstrosity, and it's going to be rendering for most of next week.

Peter's right though... It looks absolutely astounding, and it'll be up on the promotional game kiosk thing right next to the merch table.

Some other random updates include:

-- Still waiting on the banner people to give me a call... Will call them in a day or so if they don't get it together.

-- Some really neat stuff planned for the merch table, including...

-- a new, Extremely limited edition EP prepped and ready to go.

-- The music is sounding great! Just a few more finishing touches, and I'm ready for Friday.

-- We're still on track to film the whole set and make a big deal out of it later. (I'm talking DVDs and stuff. Oh yeah...)

Okay, that's it. I've still got to keep school in mind over the next week as well as finish up, so sleep is a priority.

Priority

Prayer is a priority. Several members of the family, including mAlex himself, are sick with an unknown virus. We all need to be in deep prayer that they all get better.

Quartz is right. That animation is very, very cool. I hope you all get to see it soon.

Interesting Story With a Super-Happy Ending

Probably most of you didn't know this, but we almost didn't get the animation rendered in time for Movement 2006. About two weeks before the event, we started it split up between two computers, and designed it to increase in efficiency halfway through. Several days later, we noticed it slowing down.

Now, I am somehow unable to remember everything just right...

We ended up having to lower the quality in the middle of the render.

I seem to remember even more difficulty than that... mAlex, I need your help here. What else happened?

Anyway, we barely made it in time for the concert. I couldn't believe it; it was like a movie or something it was so close.

Now for the happy ending to the dramatic story that I ruined with my inabilities in the telling...

Last month, March 29, mAlex started another render, higher quality this time. Also, didn't you, mAlex, typo the aspect ratio in the first render? *LOL*... I can't believe this sort of story isn't only from movies...

The render finished today, and mAlex added "the Malex Media Network - malexmedia.net" fading in at the end. It is theatrical! I feel like I could cry for joy!
