Short stories in the universe of EMIT?

Malex's picture

Hey people. Since my life became hectic, the work on the EMIT::Patrol mini-series sorta froze, but development of the EMIT universe is still quite active in my head.

Anyway, I was seriously considering throwing together a short story or two at some point 'soon'.

My reservation is that nobody will read them, since our previous attempts at literary fiction have not yielded much in the way of those neat things like 'readers' and 'profit'.

So yeah, sound off here if you think you might read and/or enjoy a sci-fi/drama/comedy story.

I know I'm just Mom, but truthfully, I'd very much enjoy reading stories about the EMIT. In fact, I'd enjoy reading a novelization of the stories that have been filmed. :-)

Novelizations

No, seriously. I enjoying reading stories that I have already seen - as tv episodes especially - as novels, novellas or short stories. The reason, I think, is that it's kind of a way of reliving the fun. You know the way people will repeat whole sections of dialogue from tv shows or movies that they really liked? Well, I think it must be similar to that.

I'm very fond of reading stories that include characters that I already know and can visualize. Like Dr. Who, Star Trek, X-Files... The characters are well established and I can can "see" them doing or saying what the author is describing. I don't know, it's just fun.

So my suggestion was not meant to save you time or trouble. I'd just like to read those episodes as prose. :-D

I agree.

I feel the same way. I would really enjoy reading EMIT stories and the ones already filmed might make good starting points to write/read from.

My summer reading

Aisling, you're supposed to be the one to write these novelizations. And if you get started now, I might be able to read them over the summer next year.

Malex, you need to hurry and get these EMIT episodes in the can and on tv so that everyone will want to read the novelizations next summer. :-P

Summer? What happened to winter? What about snow? Christmas, New Years, big parties, much fun? How did we get back to summer already? Did I oversleep? oh, I like it, I like it!

You really should do it, guys. I think it would be great! EMIT was really a great idea, and honestly, I think it would seem more professional and would be more entertaining as a work of literature rather than an amateur short film. I think it would be lots of fun to read, but...it would prolly be really time consuming to make, because I know you would want it to be high quality. I mean, EMIT was great, and it would be a shame to let all that creativity go to waste. Why not use it--in the form of a series of short stories? Like maybe a monthly output of literary episodes, kinda like a manga or comic (only without the graphics). Wouldn't that be cool? I'm just throwing out ideas here. Don't feel obligated to do anything on my account. :)

I've heard so much about EMIT but I've never seen any of it. I would absolutely LOVE to read EMIT as a series of short stories or something. :-*

I like NW's idea about a monthly release: either one story or a few chapters of a longer one. I hope you really do this Malex; it would be so amazing (heart)

I can't speak for Malex here, but I think I can help a little. EMIT is not dead. It is in no way dead. But it has been shelved as a "future" project. There are more pressing and urgent matters. More of them then most of us could shake a stick at and it would be best not to give Malex more to worry about.

I am certain he appreciates your enthusiasm. But for now, perhaps we could direct that energy toward more established and modern projects such as the Malex Minute.
