Pirates > Ninjas
Do you really need to ask?
Seriously, all pirates ever really do is get drunk and act tough. I mean, yeah, there's a little pillaging involved, but they all met their grisly ends on gun barrel or a rather tight rope.
But Ninja's... Ninja's are assassins of the highest nature. I could tell the time by looking at a cat's eyes. I could fly a minimum of twelve feet (trying to fly any shorter a distance isn't possbile. It just can't be done), while spinning, throwing at least 15 shuriken and hitting every target, and then landing on your hair without even disturbing it. I'd like to see a pirate try that stunt.
So yeah... I vote Ninja's.

Vote whether pirates or ninjas are cooler or better?
You've gotta be kidding me...
Too bad there isn't really an English character or commonly used programming unary operator to signify "equally down there"...
Perhaps I could use a "v=v" or something. And you could just subtract a vote from both of them for mine. Or, if you're stubborn, ignore me.

As for YOU, Quarts, go jump off a cliff. The Ninja/Pirate thing has been an Internet Poll/Argument for several years...and my friends happen to be Obsessed with Manga. You, as a fellow programmer, should at least RESPECT Pirates, and not the "ARRRHHHHGGGG!!!" Kind either.

Um, dude,
You're seriously cruising for a bruising. Quartz might not be a Ninja, but he's still a great martial artist. So's everyone else in his family, including one who's in fencing as well (prepare to be poked to death by an epee). Telling him to go jump off a cliff was seriously a bad idea. No matter how strongly you feel about the issue, which is in any case a moot point. Pirates died out centuries ago.

Hafta go for...
Pirates over Ninjas any day.
See, pirates are more realistic, and they had awesome adventures. Second, the idea of a pirate is much more romantic (as in the style of writing not
) than a ninja. And honestly, I think it would be more fun to be a pirate because all ninjas do (to my knowledge) are beat people up and kill them in interesting ways, which is not my idea of a good time.

A lot of things people have said about pirates here has applied only to the pre-pioneer-age, sailor bandit sort of pirate, but Rufas Shinra has stated on multiple occurrances that also included in this side are modern, hacker pirates. Abviously, this only becomes a problem when you're using this fact as a reason to vote against pirates, but that's actually the most common form of this here.

Changing My Vote
I've been thinking about this, and as far as Internet pirates go, there are many that probably classify when all they're doing is downloading stuff off of the Internet or something that other people (like leftists) think should be illegal, and say it is, but it really isn't. So... I'm voting for pirates. Sorry about that, Rufas.

My thoughts
I don't know much about Ninjas. They go quietly around in black from head to foot and could actually be either gender! And their personal lives are a total mystery.
Pirates come in 2 categories. The modern, computer pirate category includes bozos of the first order. They have no romance or coolness of any kind. The olde tyme pirates, however have a certain amount of romance. This is because we're far enough removed in time that their meanness, smelliness, and lack of manners don't bother us. All we have to go by are the depictions of them in books and movies. The deciding argument for me is that Yul Brynner played a pirate in The Buccaneer (1950's version). That's good enough for me! (Sorry, J.)

Jack vs. Jackie?
If I saw this as a Jackie Chan issue, he'd get my vote hands-down!
But I can't see it that way. Jackie's way too cute to be a ninja! Bruce Lee is more the ninja type than Jackie is, I think. So my vote remains with pirates.

For me...
I didn't really have a problem with the pain aspect, it was the mess and the dishevelment and the hassle. I've never regarded adrenaline rushes as worth so much trouble.
And I don't think that my CO2 being low without anybody knowing about it solely caused me to think so, either, though I do think that perhaps it contributed to me only winning however many rounds I won. (I forget now how many it was.) Because I had never played painball before, I didn't know that the paintballs weren't supposed to fly off course so badly, because when I said that that was what was happening, I was told, "Oh, yeah. That happens." Afterwards, during target practice, I was using a different gun. Then I was hitting the target very squarely and often.

I don't think I will ever develop the desire to engage in a sport that will result in the acquisition of large bruises/welts on my person. - Noble Wisdom
You usually only get bruises or welts if you get shot point blank or the velocity is turned up really high.
I didn't really have a problem with the pain aspect, it was the mess and the dishevelment and the hassle. I've never regarded adrenaline rushes as worth so much trouble. - Quartz
What hassle and dishevelment?
When you don't have gun trouble, paintball can be very enjoyable. For me the most annoying part is stripping my gun, cleaning it, then oiling it every single time after I play.
And it takes hours to do that, but it's still worth it, because I'm one of those ppl that doesn't feel alive unless they have a gallon of adrenaline coursing through their veins.
Yeah...
And you also seem not to be one of those rare people who feel dead if they don't have at least most of their thoughts organized. No wonder you don't see the hassle or dishevelment.
Hint: I had oil from the paint in my hair afterwards. And guess what the others said: "Oh, yeah. That happens."

Photorealistic Surreality: the mimicry of what one supposes the visual conditions of an impossible scenerio would be like in real life
Old Mother Hubbard sat in her cupboard,
Drowning her sorrows in hay.
Along came a spider who sat down to chide her,
But he could think of nothing to say.
Funny typo
I had never played painball before
I know this is just a typo, but it struck me funny...

I was the rearguard for my team in one of my two games of paintball. we were slaughtered. however, I was the last one alive.that was a lot of fun, because I was shot from 10 feet away and nearly died from the pain. I couldn't wear shorts for a couple of weeks because I had two huge and ugly bruises on my right leg... ow

I hope and pray that none may kill me,
Nor I kill any, with woundings grim,
But if ever any should think to kill me,
I pray Thee, God, let me kill him.

Hi Lilly!!! I miss you, too! But no worries, I'll be back to visit (probably rather often). I just can't seem to stay away for very long!
