Oh, well, if I'm the only one who cares about books, so be it.
I need movie buddies!
I haven't been to the movies in ages, I have no one to go with me anymore, at least none who can go on a regular basis. It's very depressing. I'm supposed to go see X-Men III this afternoon, but when I called the girls with movie times, one said that she might not go, but she just won't know until later. OK, I guess I can't blame her, she wasn't feeling well yesterday, but if one doesn't go, the rest will drop out after.

oops
That post was supposed to be quite a bit longer. I must have hit something funny, because half the post is missing. I was just trying to insert a smiley face!
It's not smiling now!

Well...
Post the rest?

Sorry...
I can only imagine what might have gone wrong.
I'm sure most of us would love to see what else you had to see, if you're up to typing it back in...

the movie
I still went to see X-Men, and one of the girls came. It was a fantastic movie, by far the best of the three, and most of you know, I loved the first two. It was so emotional and intense, and I must admit, I cried three times. I was on such an adrenaline rush leaving the theater, I mean, it just sucked you in, I felt like I was part of the movie, experiencing everything with the characters, fighting alongside them, crying with them...
Needless to say, this is one I'd be willing to spend my money on several more times, and then more after that when it hits the dollar theater.
Plus, there was a fantastic preview for Pirates of the Carribean, and I cannot wait to see that.
Anyway, I highly recommend X-Men. I know that there are those on this sight who are opposed to the movies because of a certain blue mutant, but I'm giving this movie my strongest recommendation anyway. This one definitely goes down in the books as one of the best movies I have seen in many many years, one of the most well done, well thought out, wonderfully executed movies in a very long time.
Now, that is not to say that I didn't have misgivings about the movie. I was very concerned when I learned that Nightcrawler would not be in this movie, as he is one of my favorite actors, and I was very attached to his character.
My only two minor complaints with the movie were that they didn't even offer an explanation as to why the character was gone, and my other complaint was the experimental camera work. It seems that they were trying something new with the cameras, and in a couple of scenes, it really bothered me.
I'm not going to spoil it for anyone, but I will tell you that they did leave it open for a sequal, but still tied everything up sufficiently in case they cannot actually make a fourth. A fourth movie will hinge on both Hally Berry and Hugh Jackman.
Also, if you go see it, you must remain after the credits for a brief 10-second scene that I didn't know was there, but I'm told I missed something wonderful.
Anyway, I have to go to Half-Price Books now.

I was going to see the movie; I had even scheduled a time to see it with John.
I cancelled the appointment when I saw the objective content review, and realized that I was allowing my standards to slip.
I gotta tell ya, I was horrifed. The Malex Media Network's whole reason for existing is to displace stuff like this because it should not be acceptable to us!
My passion for that goal was what originally motivated my verbal rants against the first two X-Men movies, and to see myself so obviously forsaking that passion was, frankly, disgusting.
I'm not the kind of person who makes judgements on what other people should and shouldn't do in their free time, but I hope that those of us who see themselves as core Malex Media Network team members will examine their reasons for joining.

I also intend to see that movie (hopefully it will be worth seeing more than once)
I've never seen any of the X-men movies, and I probably never will. I think I'm gonna stick to the original comic books!!!

Risky
It would seem like overkill, I think, to hammer on my point about the nudity in X-Men again. So I won't.

I just realized..
I was looking back just now and I realized that it looks like I'm completely silent on the issue because I haven't posted.
But in actuality, I thought Mama Splicky, Quartz, and Malex were handling it so well and I just didn't want to quadruple team anyone.
Just so everyone knows were I stand ... I am so completely with Malex when he says the Malex Media Network was created just for the purpose of making good entertainment without the objectionable content.
Phoenyx, you said, "I felt like I was part of the movie, experiencing everything with the characters,"
This is what good entertainment should do but it's spoiled if your dodging filth. There are movies out there that can do this as well if not better than X-Men and without the objectionable content. M. Night Shyamalan's Signs and The Village are both very good examples. And there are plenty of old movies that are even better, even if lacking a little color.
I won't go over the ground Mama San has already covered but needless to say I agree with her as well.

Ah
I missed this previous discussion. If I had known just how strong the opposition was, I would have refrained from commenting on the movie in as much length as I did. Not that I think that any of you are wrong in your view, and I completely understand why you don't agree with the movies. I will try to be sensitive to that in future, and I'm sorry if I upset anyone.
Please understand also, that while I understand your position, it does not change mine, and I hope that no one on this site will think less of me because of it.

We love ya, Dorothy.
Sorry about the tidal wave of negativity, there. I appreciate your in-depth reviews.
BTW, we all saw Chicken Little last night. I loved it! The scene at the baseball game with the announcer reminded me of vintage Goofy cartoons. The baby alien, Kirby, made me think of Snufflefungus. I hope they make a stuffed toy of the character so I can cuddle it!

so glad
So glad you all liked Chiken Little, I loved it, one of the best animated films in a while, by virtue of the fact that it actually had a plot.
I would review further, but I have to go to work.
Oh, and I have a book to review for everyone, which may just become one of my favorites after I read it again.

Chicken Little
Is a freaking awesome movie! I love that scene with Patrick Stewart's voice acting in the school when he's reading the class roster - that was hilarious!
No character in the history or future of film, however, can best Fish out of Water. He's simply too awesome to be trounced. Even Adam West's cameo appearance cannot top Fish's awesomenessity (sorry Ice, I just had to steal your word).
