The series itself has no name I am aware of, but book one is called "His Majesty's Dragon." It takes place during the Napoleonic wars, with most of the details of the war the same, except with Dragons. Several countries have their own Aeriel Corps of Dragon Riders, and this story centers around a Navy captain Laurence who stumbles upon a rare Chinese Dragon right before it hatches. The Dragon, Temeraire, chooses him, and the adventures begin with their training, and everyone discovering just how unusual and exceptional Temeraire is...
I'm only halfway through it at this point, but so far, I'm enjoying so very much, and I really hope my friend hurries with the sequal because I'll be ready for it by tomorrow.
Also, something I would like to complain about, I saw today on a webcast of Hannity and Colmes a woman they were interviewing who we need to keep in serious prayer. I became so furious just listening to her that I had to bite my tongue to keep from swearing. She is so full of blind hatred, and she calls on a God of vengeance like God in the old testament while completely disregarding mercy and grace, and these she disregards because they would tell her to love the unlovely when it easier for her to hate them and believe that God hates them and is going to smite them all with fire. She claims that showing mercy to, for instance, a homosexual, is the same a condoning the lifestyle, and therefore anyone who is merciful to them is not a Christian and God will smite them as well. She hates Jews and says that the Holocaust was God's vengeance on them.
She's absolutely rediculous, and contradictory in much of what she said. Her "church" parades around with signs protesting the funerals for fallen soldiers, signs declaring things like "God hates you" and "Thank God for dead soldiers."

Pray for this woman. Pray for the people under her influence. Pray for God to show her mercy and grace and bring her to repentance.

Cults
a webcast of Hannity and Colmes
Never heard of 'em. But they might be the problem. I mean, I know the woman exists and these bozos have been behaving just as you describe. But the best way to react to maniacs like this might be to ignore them. The woman and, I believe, her husband, have split off from a mainline church and have become a sick cult. Legislation has been passed in a number of states, outlawing protests at funerals. Also, in some places, biker's clubs have been coming out and lining funeral routes where these "protests" were occurring and draping flags on their bikes to form a barrier between the mourners and the protesters.
But there always seems to be some talk show or news program that wants to spotlight the looneys just to increase their ratings. I guess we need to know about these people in order to pray for them, but it's a bad idea to give them air time to spout their venom. It just encourages them.

A lament for God's children
That book looks good.
My dad's friend writes books; my family and I are currently reading one of her latest manuscripts.
1) Died for our freedom and country
2) Who need us to love them most (please hear Hearts of the Innocent by Kutless)
3) And who are confused and need to know the truth of God's love!!!
This woman really does need help because I believe that she really thinks that God appoves of and actually rejoices in her hate!! I haven't been so angry or so dissapointed in years.
However, this only bangs home that fact that as Christians we truly have been lax in letting people know the true 'Good News' of Jesus. It is in fact our passive attitude that births people like that woman.
As her 'Christian sister', I mourn for her, and will pray for her deliverance.

[New Sig...] For every minute that you exist, take two minutes to live.
The normal ones are boring. They all run-off screaming toward sanity. We just sit there at laugh at their sad attempts.
Hannity and Colmes
Hannity is a Christian Conservative, and Colmes is a Liberal Commentator, and together they host a show, do lots of debating, etc... I agree that it's best to not give that sort of thing the spotlight, but in this case, if I hadn't stumbled on this webcast, I never would have known of this, and I would have nothing to be fired up about.

Yeah,... I don't feel any calling to give a darn about her. Let her reject God's real words if she wants to.
The only problem I see in this is that she's putting words in God's mouth, and people (like Catholics, for instance) have been doing that since the beginning of time. This is no new problem, and it isn't being ignored. That's what we're here for. That's what the Malex Media Network is for. To show the people what Christians really are.

yeah, I've seen those people too, in DC at the Presiden't's inauguration last year. they had signs that said "thank God for tsunamis"
it made me mad but I didn't go argue with them because I was with a group witnessing and they wouldn't have listened to me anyway
but I get maddest [is that a word?] when I hear about them protesting soldier's funerals
I believe as Christians we're supposed to rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn, and if an American family is mourning, MOURN WITH THEM AND LEAVE THEIR SON'S FUNERAL ALONE!

I hope and pray that none may kill me,
Nor I kill any, with woundings grim,
But if ever any should think to kill me,
I pray Thee, God, let me kill him.

"Thank God for dead soldiers"? Does she need to be institutionalized?
Siggy -
This is the self-perpetuating sig. It exists for its own purposes, and functions according to its own specifications. Question not the sig, for it is all-knowing...
I life my life by ONE rule: break EVERY rule!
So sad
"Thank God for dead soldiers"? Does she need to be institutionalized?
It's always shocking to see how far away from God's heart people will go when they begin to follow a leader, instead of God's Word.
The Bible is God's reality check for us. Always treat your leaders with respect, but keep them accountable to God's Word. When your leader has to interpret the Bible for you to make his/her point clear, you may have the beginning of a cult.
