Well, I'm back from another week of cop school. It's been awesome so far, it's all stuff that I need to know to be an MP. No more going out to the range all day, no more MREs for breakfast, lunch, and sometimes dinner, no more coming back to company all dirty, sweaty and tired; we just go to class for like half the day and then we get to go to the gym or chill in the barracks. I love cop school!
I've found out why everyone says that MPs have some of the hardest training in the military, though. We have a LOT of weapons we have to qualify with. To become a Soldier, all you have to do is know how to shoot an M16/M4 and throw grenades. Those are the only weapons you need to qualify with to graduate basic. To be MPs, we have to learn how to use 9mm's, batons, shotguns, MK19s, and M249s, and possibly tazers. We also have to do a week of advanced combatives. We'll be learning moves from boxing, wrestling, muay thai, jiujitsu, stuff like that ("I know kung fu!"-Neo).
I qualified with my 9mm on Tuesday, but I only got a Marksman badge because I missed 8 shots in the prone supported. ![]()
We drove HMMWVs on Thursday, that was some of the most fun I've had like, ever. We had a gunner on the MK19, and we drove on off-road course where we drove over obstacles and through a pool of water (we got completely soaked, especially the gunner), and then we drove in a convoy with other HMMWVs for an hour. It was great to be driving again, and I picked it up right away even though I hadn't driven anything for 3 months.
Next week, we're doing unarmed self-defense (USD) and we have a law exam. The week after that I think we're doing role-playing scenarios where we respond to "domestic disturbances" or "sexual assaults," and drive police cruisers to the scene of the crime. Our police cruisers are Dodge Stratuses, how awesome is that?

That sounds pretty amazing... Where are you going to stop with all this?
