Star Trek lives again!

Crazy J's picture

The teaser trailer for the latest Star Trek movie is now out - in fact, you can see it right at yahoo.com

When I first heard about the project, I was skeptical. But now that i've seen some casting and heard some news about it (Though I will admit that news is hard to come by as they are ridiculously tight-lipped about this film), i've actually become quite interested in it. I like the thought of these guys meeting at the academy, and what their first days aboard the Enterpise (Constitution-class FTW!) are gonna be like. But they are abnormally strict about releasing details - moreso than most other films.

Dear me, Christmas is just too long to wait. I really wanna see this movie!

Oh dear, I do believe my printer is ringing. Please excuse me while I go dig it out from under the mountain of loose, rabid paper clips.

Why do people ask if they can "borrow" a piece of paper? Do they really plan on returning it?

I dunno

Of course, I'll watch the movie. I have to. Star Trek and I go too far back to miss this movie, I guess. But I'm not really excited about it. For me, Star Trek was the personalities and interactions between characters. (Contrived and hokey as they are) But to recast and reinterpret the whole thing with a modern flavor will not, I think, add anything. Although it's set in the future, Star Trek was made in the 60's and without that feel, how can it be Star Trek? How, for instance, would it be explainable if James Kirk is more open-minded about the role of women while he's at the Academy than he was later in life as a captain?

Well,

Paramount is using this as both a series reboot - a chance to modernize it some, make it more believeable - and as a way to repair the damage that Rick Berman and Brannon Braga have done. Fans were outraged at some of the crap they pulled during Voyager, and despite that, they were still given creative authority over Enterprise, which is the main reason it bombed the way it did.

It even looks like the Enterprise has been redesigned slightly - from the trailer, it looked a bit more slender and it just felt a bit different than it used to.

Actually, now that I think of it, i'm gonna go put it movie six. Cya later.

"Sir, I think you've gone mad with power!"

"Of course! Have you ever tried going mad without power? It's boring; nobody listens to you."

"Have you seen how much cotton candy he can eat?"

"Yes! 5.1 Pounds. That's why his blood is so good on pancakes!"

Ah, bliss.

I was seriously geeking out over this trailer. I couldn't help myself.

Yes, I do

I didn't mean the Doctor himself; I was reffering to the demon schoolteachers of doom.

"Doctor" = Character, "Doctor Who" = Show

I knew what you meant but the answer is still no. I was not referencing Doctor Who in any way. It's just supposed to be funny.
