Update 2007/07/26: The upgrade and associated downtime which is described in this article has been successfully completed. See / use the comment thread on this article for details / to report problems.

Hey everybody, Malex here. Just a quick note to inform you that MalexMedia.Net will be down for around an hour on Thursday morning starting around 1AM EDT. (That's Wednesday evening for all of us night owls...)

All of our web sites will be unavailable during the outage. However, client services - such as the wonderful SermonMP3s.com service - will remain fully operational.

We've been needing some more storage on the server, so I'm having another 500 GB disk installed. Then I'll be moving things around, and then, finally, everything should be back up. There may be a few glitches or other fun after that, but we'll burn that bridge when we come to it.

If you have any questions at all, please let me know. ttyl!

Perparing for Downtime

Everything leading up to the server outage is going smoothly. Hopefully everything will go just as well on the other side. :)

Upgrade Delays...

Malex's picture

I've been in contact with the colocation off and on for the past few hours. Apparently, between the salesman fogetting to contact the datacenter about my upgrade request and them no longer stocking the part I ordered, there's been significant delay in beginning the process.

In theory, the datacenter techs will be proceeding with a downgraded order within the next half-hour or so. Otherwise, we'll be backing out of the process and waiting until next midnight to try again.

Trying to stay awake...

Initial Process Completed

The technician has installed the new HDD, and the server is back online. I'll be making some adjustments to make use of the new HDD space, which will be followed by a few ups and downs, but everything should be back to normal within the hour.

Fun Fun!

The maintenance has been completed, and all services should now be operating normally and at full capacity.

Please let me know if anything remains broken or behaves strangely.
